Kunene: The winner of the Kunene Regional Football League Second Division will be determined this weekend as clubs prepare for the final two rounds of the 2025/26 season.According to Namibia Press Agency, the Kunene Regional Football Association (KUNRFA) has scheduled round 21 matches for Saturday, while round 22 fixtures are set for Sunday, marking the conclusion of the league campaign. The league leaders, Kunene NamPol FC, head into the decisive weekend with 50 points from 20 matches and remain unbeaten this season. They are set to face Young Eagles in Okaukuejo on Saturday before taking on !Ugab FC in Outjo on Sunday.Second-placed Okarindi Komutati, who have accumulated 45 points, will strive to keep their title hopes alive. They are scheduled to play against Outjo Football Academy on Saturday and Pubs FC on Sunday.Other matches for the weekend include Pubs FC versus Epupa Zebra Stars in Outjo, and Robber Chanties hosting Sixty Eleven FC in Khorixas on Saturday.KUNRFA Regional Coordinator Ruben Bol la Nangombe, speaking to Nampa on Thursday, confirmed that all preparations for the final weekend have been completed. He stated, "Everything is on track and fully in place as usual. All match venues have been successfully booked and will be completely ready for the weekend's action."Nangombe noted the competitiveness of the title race, emphasizing that the championship battle has reached the final day for three consecutive seasons. "The title race has been incredibly tight, which highlights a fantastic trend in the Kunene Second Division. There are no big teams or small teams anymore - anyone can beat anyone, and the competitiveness of the league is at an all-time high," he said.Looking to the future, Nangombe mentioned plans for an NFA C-Licence Coaching Course, the expansion of grassroots football programs, and the activation of the Opuwo Third Division Stream. "We aim to engage at least 60 per cent of the region's youth in active, structured football. Activating the Third Division will help create a w ider player pool and strengthen youth development in the region," he added.
