Kunene: The Kunene Regional Football Association has postponed all Kunene Second Division league matches scheduled for this weekend, citing the participation of regional club Pubs FC in the national cup competition.According to Namibia Press Agency, regional coordinator Ruben Bolla Nangombe announced that Round 21 and Round 22 matches, originally scheduled for 30 and 31 May 2026, have been postponed until further notice. Nangombe stated that the decision was taken to protect the integrity and fairness of the league competition as the season approaches its conclusion.'The secretariat views these specific rounds as highly critical to the conclusion of the season. Allowing these fixtures to proceed out of sync could severely compromise the competitive integrity of the league,' he said. He explained that all regional matches for the affected rounds must be played simultaneously to ensure that no club gains an advantage by having outstanding matches while others complete their fixtures.The postponement follo ws the progression of Pubs FC to the Round of 32 of the Namibia Football Association Cup competition, commonly known as the NFA Cup. Nangombe said the suspension of league fixtures would remain in effect for as long as the regional representative continues advancing in the national competition or if future cup fixtures clash with the final stages of the regional league schedule.He further apologised to clubs for any inconvenience caused, particularly regarding travel arrangements, accommodation bookings, and other logistical planning already undertaken for the weekend fixtures. 'We deeply regret having to make this decision and apologise for any inconvenience caused to your club's logistics and planning,' he noted.The Kunene Second Division league has entered a crucial stage with clubs battling for promotion positions and survival in the division. The association indicated that new fixture dates will be communicated to clubs in due course.
