Larandja Calls for Collaboration Between CoW and CBD Property Owners

Windhoek: Windhoek Mayor Ndeshihafela Larandja has called on Central Business District (CBD) property owners to collaborate with the municipality in enhancing the city's image. Speaking at an engagement with stakeholders in Windhoek on Tuesday, convened at the request of property owners seeking dialogue on challenges in the CBD, Larandja emphasised the significance of joint action.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Larandja urged the property owners to work together with the City of Windhoek to improve and maintain their properties while advocating for supportive policies. She highlighted the importance of creating local business districts where commerce can thrive, cultural activities can flourish, jobs are created, and everyone feels welcome and safe.

The mayor underscored the necessity of having a dedicated approach towards property enhancement and collaboration with the city. She pointed out that thriving business districts play a crucial role not only in the socio-economic health of Windhoek but also in fostering dynamic, job-creating, and resilient urban environments.

Larandja also reiterated the council's commitment to improving safety, cleanliness, and beautification in the CBD, which are vital in attracting and retaining businesses, residents, and visitors. Following the meeting, stakeholders participated in a walking tour of the CBD, visiting areas like the Wernhil flea market, Wernhil shopping centre, Post Street Mall, and Zoo Park to discuss ongoing projects and potential improvements.
