Late Uerikua’s Son Succumbs to Injuries at Otjiwarongo

Otjiwarongo: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) have confirmed that the second deceased person in the road accident between Otjiwarongo and Okakarara is the 14-year-old son of former Otjozondjupa governor and Swapo member of parliament, James Unomasa Uerikua.

According to Namibia Press Agency, NamPol Otjozondjupa Regional Commander, Commissioner Philip Hindengwa, informed Nampa that Uerikua's son succumbed to his injuries at the Otjiwarongo Hospital where he was taken following a car accident which also claimed the life of the former governor.

Hindengwa stated that the late Uerikua was travelling with seven other occupants when the vehicle experienced a tyre burst, veered off the road, and overturned.

'Uerikua's son was transported to the Otjiwarongo Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries, while the former governor was pronounced dead at the scene,' he said.

Uerikua's wife was also transported to the Otjiwarongo Hospital, where she is reported to be in critical condition. The accident occurred between 13h00 and 14h00 while en route from Otjiwarongo to Okakarara.
