Beijing: The mainland has expressed its openness to receiving information regarding the illegal activities of 18 core members of Taiwan's military "psychological warfare unit," a spokesperson announced on Wednesday. Zhu Fenglian, representing the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, addressed the media in response to a recent bounty notice from Xiamen police in Fujian Province, encouraging cooperation from citizens across the Taiwan Strait.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Zhu emphasized the importance of solidarity among compatriots on both sides of the Strait in opposing "Taiwan independence" and supporting national unification. This initiative by mainland public security is seen as a direct implementation of a central government policy aimed at penalizing separatist forces and protecting the shared interests of people across the Strait and the broader Chinese nation.
Zhu reiterated that Taiwan is an integral part of China and warned that those threatening the country's sovereignty and security would face legal consequences. She accused the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in Taiwan of using the "psychological warfare unit" to attack the mainland and promote separatist ideologies.
Mainland media recently identified five Taiwanese enterprises as supporters of this unit, a move the DPP criticized as an intimidation tactic against Taiwan businesses. Zhu defended the mainland's actions as necessary measures to protect national security and the rights of the populace and enterprises.
