Rundu: A 28-year-old man was arrested in Rundu after he allegedly assaulted his brother with an iron bar, resulting in serious head injuries.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) weekend crime report issued on Tuesday detailed that the incident took place around 23h00 in the Ndama informal settlement. It is reported that during an argument, the suspect allegedly struck his brother with the iron bar. As a result, the victim was first admitted to Rundu State Hospital and later transferred to Windhoek State Hospital due to the severity of his injuries. The suspect is currently in custody while police investigations are ongoing.
In a separate incident, a 19-year-old female student from the Rundu campus of the University of Namibia was allegedly gang-raped on the same day at approximately 10h00. The report states that the victim, along with two other female students, took a taxi that left them some distance from their residence. They were reportedly accosted by a group of unknown males who allegedly robbed them of their mobile phones and bags. During this incident, the victim attempted to flee but was chased by three suspects who allegedly sexually assaulted her. Police have yet to make any arrests in this case, and the investigation remains active.
