Maria Mwengere School Benefits from Swiss NGO Laptop Donation

Windhoek: Maria Mwengere Secondary School in the Rundu Rural Constituency received 13 laptops from MMF Switzerland, a Swiss non-governmental organization, to support digital learning and enhance educational opportunities for learners.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the donation was presented by Caroline Drechsel, Chairperson of MMF Switzerland, who emphasized the collaborative nature of the initiative. She highlighted the support from individuals who value education and the potential of young people. Drechsel expressed that the initiative is rooted in mutual respect and learning.

Drechsel encouraged learners to utilize the laptops to expand their knowledge, creativity, and digital skills. She advised them not to fear making mistakes, as learning is a continuous process. Addressing the teachers, she acknowledged their critical role in transforming the laptops into effective learning tools and commended their dedication despite the additional challenges technology may present.

Reflecting on her experiences in Namibia, Drechsel praised the country's hospitality and communal spirit. She reminded learners that their future depends on their choices and perseverance, urging them to dream big and take their education seriously.

Celestina Amunyela, the head girl of the school, expressed gratitude to MMF Switzerland and its partners, recognizing the laptops as an investment in their future. She noted that the computers would enhance research and typing skills, better prepare learners for higher education and employment, and provide equal learning opportunities for all students, including those with special needs. Amunyela assured that the learners would responsibly use and care for the laptops, appreciating the donors' belief in their educational journey.
