Nganate’s Office Broadens Support to Omaheke Community

Windhoek: The Office of the Omaheke Governor has invested in a range of development projects aimed at improving the living conditions of communities across the region. Speaking during the State of the Region Address in Gobabis on Monday, Governor Pijoo Marikutuka Nganate said the office has invested in agricultural initiatives to improve food security and nutrition.According to Namibia Press Agency, among the key interventions, Nganate said the office supported the Epukiro Post 3 Clinic nutrition garden by providing seeds, irrigation systems, shading infrastructure, land preparation, and technical assistance. "The project contributed to improved nutrition outcomes, particularly for children under the age of five, tuberculosis (TB) patients, and people living with HIV, through sponsorship valued at N.dollars 22,011.75," he said.In the housing and construction sector, the office procured 240 bags of cement to support housing projects undertaken by the Shack Dwellers Federation in Witvlei, Omitara, and Gores es. Some of the cement was also allocated to Otjivero Combined School for the construction of a netball court.Nganate further said the office continued to support the Regional Soup Kitchen Support Programme by distributing food parcels over a three-month period to more than 37 soup kitchens across the Omaheke Region. He said the programme also benefited from consignments received from the Office of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Gender Equality, and the Namibia Revenue Agency."At present, we are rolling out sanitary pads and stationery to schools, with four schools having already benefited. The stationery was generously donated by a son of the soil, Monty Tjozongoro," the governor said. The Office of the Governor also supported the Okombomi Women's Project in Epukiro with a cement mixer valued at N.dollars 24,263. Nganate said the intervention was aimed at increasing the group's production capacity, as members had previously mixed materials manually."This group produces around 200 bricks per day, c reating sustainable employment opportunities for women," he said.
