MLIREC warns against scam email

The Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation (MLIREC) has warned employers and the public at large to disregard a scam email sent via the ministry’s domain.

In a statement the ministry issued on Tuesday, the email reportedly from Kaarin.lamek@mol.gov.na and seemingly targeting several employers, was sent under the subject title; ‘Non-compliance confirmatory notice’ from the Ministry of Labour and contains an attachment of a zipped folder.

It further gives a file case report number and also contains a fake government emblem with the name ‘Ministry of Industrialisation, Trade and SME’ under it.

“While the ministry acknowledges that the domain used on the email is that of the ministry, it rubbishes ownership of such a username let alone its authorship. The ministry would therefore like to warn the public that it has no knowledge of such an email and should be ignored with the highest degree it deserves,” said MLIREC.

The public has further been cautioned not to open the attached folder.
