Ulaanbaatar: Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh has issued a veto against a parliamentary resolution to dismiss Prime Minister Gombojav Zandanshatar. This decision was announced by Altankhuyag Uilstuguldur, a chief of staff at the president's office.
According to Namibia Press Agency, President Khurelsukh's veto message highlighted issues with the voting process during the plenary session of Mongolia's State Great Khural, the country's parliament. Khurelsukh pointed out that the voting formula was incorrectly applied, and the session's attendance was inappropriately considered based on a prior day's attendance. The president emphasized that the attendance for Friday's session should have been freshly determined.
The resolution to dismiss Zandanshatar was passed by the Mongolian parliament on October 17 with a 64 percent approval vote. Zandanshatar had been appointed as prime minister on June 13 following a proposal by the ruling Mongolian People's Party.
