Windhoek: The Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) and the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) have entered into a strategic partnership to enhance digital transformation and economic development in Namibia with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Thursday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, CRAN Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Emilia Nghikembua emphasized that the three-year MoU sets a framework for cooperation in crucial areas such as public key infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital transformation, e-trade facilitation, regulatory standards, legislative reform, digital literacy, and capacity building. The collaboration aims to create a secure and resilient digital environment, empowering businesses and citizens with the necessary skills, trust, and infrastructure to thrive in the digital age.
Nghikembua highlighted that the partnership will drive innovation, enhance cybersecurity awareness, and support policies that foster digital entrepreneurship, helping Namibia maintain its competitiveness regionally and globally.
NCCI CEO Titus Nampala underscored the opportunities digital transformation presents for businesses of all sizes to grow and innovate. He stated that the MoU will provide NCCI members with access to knowledge, resources, and support essential for success in an increasingly digital economy.
The agreement also includes the formation of a joint steering committee to monitor implementation and coordinate activities over its three-year span, with periodic reviews to evaluate progress.
