MTC and MVA Fund Donate Classrooms to Donkerbos Primary School

Otjombinde: Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) and the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVA Fund) on Wednesday donated four classrooms and an administration block to Donkerbos Primary School in the Otjombinde Constituency of the Omaheke Region.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the infrastructure was provided through the MTC Rural Schools Project, valued at N.dollars 2.4 million, and inaugurated by Omaheke Governor, Pijoo Nganate. MTC's Chief Brand, Marketing, Communications and Sustainability Officer, Tim Ekandjo, stated that the Rural Schools Project has built 53 classrooms across eleven regions in the country since its inception in 2019. The beneficiary regions include Kunene, Otjozondjupa, Oshana, Hardap, ||Kharas, Kavango West, Kavango East, Zambezi, Ohangwena, Oshikoto, and Omaheke.

Ekandjo also mentioned plans to hand over classrooms to a school in the Omusati Region before the end of the year. John Haufiku, MVA Fund's Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, emphasized the Fund's awareness of the need for classrooms in the education sector. He stated that their collaboration with the MTC Rural Schools Project aims to assist the Ministry of Education in creating a dignified and conducive learning environment for Namibian children.

Governor Pijoo Nganate expressed gratitude at the handover ceremony, appreciating MTC and the MVA Fund for recognizing the importance of investing in rural education. Nganate highlighted that building classrooms not only provides physical structures but also creates opportunities and shapes futures for the children of Omaheke.

Donkerbos Primary School Principal, Marah Patience, praised MTC and the MVA Fund for their generosity, noting that the project significantly improves the teaching and learning environment in remote areas. Patience expressed relief over the resolution of previous challenges, attributing the positive change to the contributions of MTC and the MVA Fund.
