Namibia records 1 944 new cases, 45 deaths

Minister of Health and Social Services Dr Kalumbi Shangula, announced that the country on Sunday recorded 1 944 new cases and 45 deaths.

The cases recorded have a gender distribution of 1109 females and 835 males, ranging from two to 92 years.

Erongo region recorded the highest number at 315, Otjozondjupa 305, Khomas 299, Kavango East 220, Oshana 191, Hardap 184, Oshikoto 95, Kunene 80, Omaheke 75, ||Kharas 58, Zambezi 54, Omusati 36, and Ohangwena recorded 32 cases.

The deaths were recorded from Gobabis, Windhoek, Swakopmund, Okahandja, Otjiwarongo, Grootfontein, Omaruru and Katima Mulilo districts.

Meanwhile, the country recorded 968 recoveries bringing the total number of recoveries to 64 900.

On Sunday, 555 people were hospitalized of which 81 were in the Intensive Care Unit.

Cumulative confirmed cases stood at 86 649 with 20 293 active cases and 1 445 total deaths.
