A 20-year-old man succumbed to head injuries on Sunday morning at the Tsumeb State Hospital after he was allegedly hit by a truck on the B1 road near Otavi on Friday last week.

The deceased has been identified by his relatives as Joseph Ndara from Otavi.

Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha, on Monday said the deceased was crossing the road when the truck which was coming from the northern direction allegedly bumped him on Friday evening at about 17h40.

“He sustained severe head injuries and succumbed on Sunday morning at the Tsumeb State Hospital where he was taken on that Friday night,” said the police officer.

A culpable homicide docket has been opened at Otavi against the 50-year-old male truck driver.
