New York City:President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has extended an invitation to U.S. businesses to invest in Namibia, particularly in sectors such as critical minerals, energy, infrastructure, logistics, oil and gas, tourism, and manufacturing.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the invitation was made during a breakfast meeting with members of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in New York City. President Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasized Namibia's strategic location and infrastructure, which position the country as a gateway to the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, offering access to a market of approximately 400 million consumers.
The president noted Namibia's ambition to become a logistics, energy, minerals, and investment hub, connecting global markets with Southern Africa. She underscored the opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), encouraging businesses to use Namibia as a platform to access the broader African market.
Highlighting Namibia's significant reserves of critical minerals such as uranium, lithium, and rare earth elements, Nandi-Ndaitwah urged investment in local processing, refining, and technology to create jobs and advance industrialization. She also pointed to offshore oil and gas discoveries as opportunities for development in services, logistics, and technology.
Additionally, Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasized the potential of Namibia's renewable energy and green hydrogen resources, which are to be developed to support industrialization and economic diversification. She invited American companies to engage in infrastructure development and industrialization efforts, partnering with Namibian enterprises to unlock opportunities in Namibia and across the African market.
