Windhoek: The Namibia Water Corporation (NamWater) announced on Monday that the national dams' water storage declined to 87.4 per cent. 'The total surface water storage stands at 1 359.815 million cubic meters, representing a reduction of 8.581 million cubic meters compared to 02 June 2025. National storage is now at 87.4 per cent of full capacity, compared to 88.0 per cent last week,' the water utility said in a press statement.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the report further highlights that while some reservoirs showed marginal increases, the majority recorded small to moderate declines, most notably the Hardap and Neckartal dams which contribute to the national water supply. NamWater urged the public, municipalities and industries to continue practicing and maintaining efficient and careful water usage as the dry season intensifies.
NamWater said it will continue to keep stakeholders informed on developments regarding dam levels and supply capacity. It is further stated that while key dams remain in a strong position following good rains, strategic water management remains essential since gradual declines are expected as seasonal inflows taper off, especially in drought-sensitive areas.
