Moscow: US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has reduced its spending by $420 million over the past week, US billionaire Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) said on Saturday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, DOGE stated on X that NASA has made substantial cuts by eliminating approximately 80% of its unused Purchasing Cards and terminating around $420 million in unneeded contracts. This included $45 million, distributed as $15 million each to three separate consultants, previously allocated for 'Change Management Support Services.'
DOGE was established as a consultative agency with the mission of reducing wasteful expenditures and restructuring federal agencies. In February, US House Speaker Mike Johnson noted that DOGE had identified significant government spending that had not been authorized by Congress.
