Ondangwa: A two-week-long Namibia Football Association (NFA) C-License Coaching Course concluded successfully at the Andimba Toivo yaToivo Secondary School Hall in Ondangwa, Oshana region. The programme, which started on 05 - 15 May 2026, brought together 39 coaches from various regions across the country.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the course was organized by the Oshikoto Football Association (OFA) with the aim of equipping participants with essential certifications to lead teams in regional leagues while upgrading their skills for regional and first-division sides. The comprehensive curriculum covered key areas including team management, player development, tactical periodisation, injury prevention, and match analysis.
The association's chairperson, Sakaria Alugodhi, commended the coaches for their commitment and resilience throughout the intensive sessions. He emphasized the importance of the course, stating that it was about transformation, player development techniques, and the responsibilities that come with leading and shaping young athletes.
Alugodhi urged the coaches to apply their newly acquired expertise when they return to their clubs and communities, stressing the need for continuous learning. He highlighted that football development in Namibia relies on dedicated and knowledgeable individuals who are willing to invest in the next generation.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Martha Kavalela reflected on her journey during the course. She noted that although female football coaches remain the minority, talent, passion, and dedication have no gender. The intense 12-day course provided valuable lessons both on and off the pitch.
At the end of the programme, all participants were awarded certificates in recognition of their successful completion of the course. This initiative forms part of NFA's broader efforts to strengthen technical capacity across all fourteen regions, with a focus on enhancing training standards for younger players and systematically upgrading local coaching licenses to elevate the overall quality of football in the country.
