Tabuk:The Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) has introduced an Exporters' Guide to assist businesses in navigating export procedures and accessing regional and international markets, thereby expanding opportunities for growth.
According to NAMPA, the guide was launched by Julia Muetudhana, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of NIPDB. It has been developed as a practical resource for businesses, particularly targeting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and emerging exporters. The guide aims to help businesses understand export procedures, documentation, regulations, logistics, and market access.
Muetudhana highlighted Namibia's export potential, noting merchandise exports are projected to reach approximately N$125.7 billion in 2025, marking a 7.6% increase from the previous year. However, she pointed out that exports are currently concentrated in key commodities and markets.
In pursuit of further growth, Namibia aims to increase exports to N$168 billion by 2030. Achieving this target requires diversification, value addition, beneficiation, and accessing new markets. Muetudhana emphasized that export growth involves not only increasing sales but also diversifying products and markets, enhancing local value addition, and advancing up the value chain.
NIPDB is committed to supporting export-led growth through various initiatives, including the High Potential Pool, market intelligence, policy advocacy, and business advisory services. Namibian MSMEs have already begun accessing markets such as Botswana, Zambia, and China in sectors including cosmetology, agro-processing, and manufacturing.
The success of the guide depends on its utilization by businesses to identify opportunities and take action. Muetudhana encouraged collective efforts from the government, institutions, and the private sector to strengthen Namibia's export sector and enable more effective participation in regional and international markets.
The Exporters' Guide will be available on the NIPDB website and supported by capacity-building sessions and webinars providing practical guidance on export-related topics.
