Windhoek: Swapo Party president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah presented a strategic address linking historical identity with economic transformation at the party's central committee meeting in Windhoek on Saturday. She urged the party leadership to demonstrate collective discipline, strong commitment to the Namibian people, and unwavering unity of purpose. Nandi-Ndaitwah stressed that respecting the nation's history necessitates concrete progress today, encouraging members to focus their efforts on revitalising the national economy.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Nandi-Ndaitwah outlined the government's initiatives to meet its commitments, highlighting recent diplomatic efforts aimed at transforming international relations into domestic growth. Acknowledging the importance of strengthening ties with long-standing allies, she undertook two significant State visits as President of Namibia.

The first was to the United Republic of Tanzania from 19 to 22 June, and then to China from 06 to 11 July 2026, accompanied by a dedicated Namibian business delegation. These missions primarily aimed to shift Namibia from raw material exports towards domestic processing and industrial development.

'Both visits focused on strengthening economic cooperation and creating greater value for Namibia,' Nandi-Ndaitwah noted, emphasising that the primary objective remains local value addition and the beneficiation of the country's natural resources.

Her address linked historical solidarity with contemporary economic policy, establishing the direction for the ruling party: utilising strategic international partnerships and local industrialisation to achieve tangible social and economic benefits for all Namibians.
