NNPL action resumes

The MTC Namibia Netball Premier League (NNPL) round six and seven of the second leg action resumed in Grootfontein after a short break which saw the national team participate in the 2023 World Cup Qualifiers in South Africa.

The first match saw coastal side Blue Waters face army side Mighty Gunners and it was the latter who took the first quarter lead 14-08, before consolidating it in the second to 25-19.

In the third quarter Gunners opened a 10-point lead (36-26) before stretching ahead in the last quarter to win a 50-36 final result.

The second match saw another coastal side Navy Netball Club (NC) face off against hosts Grootfontein.

The Navy team led the first quarter by 13-05 before extending it to 28-12 in the second quarter.

The third quarter was no different as the Navy stretched their lead to 40-19 before finishing the last quarter 54-25.

The third match was between Tigers against another coastal side, Eleven Arrows and it was the Windhoek-based Tigers who emerged victorious at 47-35.

The fourth game was between Afrocat and Northern Fly Ballers with the latter winning 48-34.

The fifth match saw Waters facing Rebels in their second match of the day where they lost 42-27.

Young Stars NC and Navy NC met in the sixth match and the coastal side ended victorious 65-35.

The last match of the day saw Arrows seek redemption when they faced the home side Grootfontein.

The coastal side emerged 43-25 victorious.

On Sunday, the first game saw Arrows play their third match of the weekend against Young Stars and the coastal side emerged victorious by a close score of 56-55 points.

The second match was between Gunners and Northern Fly Ballers with the army side dominating from start to finish to end up with a 62-26 final score victory, while the third match saw the host losing their second game of the weekend to Rebels by 32-28 points.

The last match pitted Afrocat Lions against Young Stars and the latter closed the weekend off in style with a 45-37 scoreline.

Action continues next weekend in Walvis Bay.
