Ongwediva: The Ongwediva Trade Fair Society (OTFS) has partnered with the Namibian Police Force in Oshana to strengthen security measures for the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF). Speaking to Nampa on Wednesday, the town’s spokesperson Ottilie Shingenge said the collaboration has resulted in the construction of a new prefabricated police satellite charge office at the Ongwediva Trade Fair Centre.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the new mini satellite police station marks a significant milestone in ongoing efforts to provide a secure environment for visitors, vendors, and participants during the exhibition. ‘This is done to facilitate a rapid response to emergencies and enhance overall security, which is why the new police facility is strategically located within the trade fair grounds,’ Shingenge stated.
She further explained that it stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts between the Ongwediva Trade Fair Society and law enforcement agencies to prioritize public safety. The Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair is scheduled to run from 22 to 30 August 2025.
A total of 160 security guards will be stationed at the fair, with 80 on duty per shift every day. President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah is expected to officially open the OATF on Sunday.
