Okapara Primary School Inaugurated to Serve 68 Learners in Epupa Constituency

Epupa: The Okapara Primary School in the Epupa Constituency was officially inaugurated on Monday, providing improved educational facilities for 68 learners from the surrounding community. The school was constructed at a cost of N$2.3 million through the support of Project Okaoko and Mega Fishing Company.According to Namibia Press Agency, the learners commute from home to school daily, as the school has no hostel facilities. Representing President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Minister in the Presidency, Charles Mubita, stated that the new facility demonstrates the importance of public-private partnerships in advancing national development. Mubita emphasized that quality education remains a government priority and highlighted the need to expand access to accessible, equitable, and inclusive education through the construction and upgrading of educational infrastructure.He acknowledged that the government cannot achieve all its development objectives alone and called for continued cooperation with the private sect or and other stakeholders. "The construction of Okapara Primary School is a manifestation of the aforementioned partnership," Mubita said, commending Project Okaoko and Mega Fishing Company for meeting the needs of the local community and complementing government efforts.Mubita encouraged other companies with the capacity to support communities to contribute towards improving education infrastructure, stating that education plays a critical role in achieving sustainable development. He urged regional authorities, school administrators, and the community to take proper care of the facility so that it benefits generations to come. "To our young learners, this facility stands as a tangible commitment to your potential. Honour the investment made into your future by using this space with discipline and pursuing excellence," he added.He reminded the learners that education is the foundation of self-determination, before officially handing over the school to the relevant authorities and community for operationa lisation. Project Okaoko representative, Andreas Horn, mentioned that the organisation has supported numerous development initiatives over the years. "We are happy to say that we have organised more than 200 projects worth several million euros," he said. Horn expressed hope that the new school would serve as an example of what can be achieved through cooperation and investment in education.
