Otjiwarongo Prepares for Annual Mass Clean-Up Campaign

Pretoria: The Municipality of Otjiwarongo's annual mass clean-up campaign is scheduled to take place on Friday in the town's residential and central business district areas. The municipality's public relations officer, Adelheid Shilongo, in a media statement on Wednesday, invited the local community to take part in the campaign.According to Namibia Press Agency, Shilongo announced that the 2026 mass clean-up campaign will occur on Friday, 17 July. She extended the invitation to all residents, businesses, schools, churches, sports clubs, community organizations, and government institutions to actively participate in the initiative. The assembly point has been designated at the open space of Etambi Bar at 06h30 on Friday, from where participants will be assigned to different suburbs across town.To assist with planning, the municipality has encouraged those wishing to participate to register before Friday. The campaign aims to help restore civic pride and protect public health. Shilongo highlighted that the municipality continues to face challenges with illegal dumping of waste and random littering in and around town.She urged residents to respect the no-dumping signboards and to make use of the installed litter bins for proper waste disposal. Shilongo emphasized the importance of community cooperation in addressing the littering problem affecting Otjiwarongo and keeping the town clean.
