Over 2,200 Evacuated Due to Flooding in Eastern Myanmar

Yatsauk: Over 2,200 people have been evacuated as flooding impacts four townships in eastern Myanmar's Shan state. A total of 2,267 individuals from 461 households were relocated, according to the Myanmar Fire Services Department.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the flooding was caused by mountain runoff following heavy rainfall early Monday morning. The townships of Yatsauk, Aungban, Kalaw, and Pindaya have been affected. In Pindaya township, six fatalities and three injuries have been confirmed as of Tuesday morning.

Rescue teams from the Myanmar Fire Services Department are actively relocating affected residents to safer locations such as monasteries and playgrounds. The department has indicated that rescue operations are continuing.
