Lima: Peru's national men's football team is set to face Russia and Chile in November friendlies, as announced by the president of the Peruvian football federation. In a statement made on Friday, Agustin Lozano detailed the upcoming matches during a news conference where he also introduced Jean Ferrari as Peru's new general director of football.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the first match against Russia is scheduled for November 12 in Saint Petersburg, followed by a clash with Chile in Sochi on November 18. Lozano also mentioned that the federation is nearing confirmation of additional friendlies for FIFA's international window in October.
Peru currently stands ninth in the 10-team South American qualifiers for the upcoming World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada next year. To maintain any hope of securing a playoff spot, the Blanquirroja must win their final two qualifiers against Uruguay and Paraguay next month, while also relying on an improbable combination of favorable results from other matches.
