Bangkok: The Thai army has released two out of 20 Cambodian soldiers captured after a ceasefire came into effect, a spokesperson from the Cambodian defense ministry confirmed.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the release occurred as of 11:00 a.m. (local time) on August 1, 2025. The soldiers were returned to Cambodia following negotiations between the two nations. Cambodian Defense Ministry's Undersecretary of State and spokesperson, Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, provided this update through an official statement.

The spokesperson emphasized Cambodia's ongoing demand for the return of the remaining 18 soldiers. "Therefore, Cambodia continues to urge the Thai side to promptly repatriate the remaining personnel in accordance with international humanitarian law," Socheata stated.
