Police bust alleged drug dealers in weekend operation

Four Namibian men aged between 19 and 44 were arrested on Friday for the alleged possession of drugs worth N.dollars 21 000 at Aranos during a police search.

A crime report issued on Sunday by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) indicated that the men were found with 80 bags of cannabis weighing 100 grams each, 120 full mandrax tablets and 28 bags of cannabis weighing 60 grand each around 10h30 in the Nuwerus location.

Meanwhile at Rehoboth, a 28-year-old man was arrested on Friday after he was allegedly found in possession of three bags of cannabis weighing 10 grams each and valued at N.dollars 500.

The suspect was also arrested during a police search, which took place around 12h00.

In a similar incident, the police during a police search also at Rehoboth arrested a 26-year-old man on Friday after he was allegedly found in possession of a half mandrax tablet valued at N.dollars 90 at about 11h30.

Equally, two men aged 20 and 54 were arrested on Saturday for allegedly possessing 30 grams of cannabis valued at N.dollars 1 500 in Rehoboth’s Block B residential area.

In the Erongo Region, a 27-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly being found in possession of 14 units of crack cocaine, 15 halves of mandrax tablets and six grams of ‘majad’ cannabis, as well as 22 grams of ‘skunk’ cannabis at Walvis Bay.

“The drugs are valued at N.dollars 3 460 and the suspect was arrested during a police search at a house in Theo Ben Gurirab Street,” it said.

In Swakopmund, a 28-year-old Congolese female suspect with refugee status was arrested for allegedly being found in possession of six kilogrammes of cannabis; 11 doses of cocaine powder and seven bags of crystal meth valued at a total N.dollars 313 000.

The suspect was arrested during a police search in Mondesa around 20h00.

Equally, a 31-year-old man was arrested on Saturday at Mondesa in Swakopmund for allegedly possessing 693 grams of cannabis, 72 full mandrax tablets and one half mandrax tablet, valued at N.dollars 43 470.

The suspect was arrested during a police search at about 01h00.

Similarly, a 35-year-old man was arrested during a police search on Friday for allegedly being found in possession of three parcels of cannabis worth N.dollars 35 650 in the Tulinawa location of Swakopmund.

Meanwhile, two men aged 21 and 27 were arrested on Friday after being found in possession of 35 grams of cannabis valued at N.dollars 1 750 in Mondesa, also during a police search.

They were arrested in Epata Street.

In the Khomas Region, a Congolese national was arrested on Saturday for allegedly being found in possession of 3 950 grams of cannabis worth N.dollars 197 500.

The suspect was arrested in the Goreangab residential area around 16h00.

All suspects were due to appear in court on Monday.
