Witkoff: When an assassination attempt on Donald Trump, then-candidate for US president, took place in the United States at a campaign rally in the summer of 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin went to church to pray for him, US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff revealed.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Witkoff disclosed in an interview with US journalist Tucker Carlson that President Putin had recounted his actions following the attempt on Trump’s life. Putin went to his local church and met with his priest to pray, not because Trump was a potential future president of the United States, but because of the personal friendship he shared with Trump.

Witkoff also shared that during a recent meeting, Putin presented him with a “beautiful portrait of President Trump” created by a renowned Russian artist. Putin requested Witkoff to take the portrait to the United States and deliver it to Trump, further emphasizing the personal bond between the two leaders.
