Windhoek: RedForce Debt Management CC's N$850,000 defamation case against Urban and Rural Development Minister James Sankwasa has been postponed to November for a case management conference.According to Namibia Press Agency, Judge Shafimana Ueitele directed Sankwasa, who is being sued in both his official and personal capacities, to file his plea and any counterclaims by 09 October 2026. RedForce, a debt collection service provider, has lodged five claims against Sankwasa following a written directive issued to local authorities in August 2025. The company also cites statements allegedly made to journalists and comments attributed to the minister during an online talk show.The first claim involves N$150,000 sought from the minister in his official capacity. RedForce alleges that the directive, which was circulated to local authorities across Namibia, accused the company of causing economic and political issues for citizens using its services. RedForce contends that this directive was defamatory and tarnis hed its reputation and dignity.Additionally, RedForce is claiming N$700,000 from Sankwasa over four sets of statements allegedly made between 05 and 13 August 2025. In its court filings, RedForce quotes Sankwasa as stating: "The nation has been crying for so many years about exploitation by this company." The company argues that these statements implied it exploited citizens, engaged in corrupt or unlawful practices, and obtained contracts through improper means.The fifth claim addresses Sankwasa's remarks during an online talk show on 13 August 2025. RedForce asserts that Sankwasa accused the company of political sabotage, using covert methods to undermine the ruling party, and infiltrating Namibia's procurement system.For each of its claims, RedForce seeks damages, 20% interest from the date of judgment, full retractions, and unconditional apologies within 10 days of judgment. The company is also pursuing legal costs.Under Ueitele's order, RedForce is required to respond to the minister's plea by 30 October 2026. Both parties must complete discovery by 06 November and submit a joint case management report by 10 November, prior to the court hearing on 17 November 2026.
