Otjerunda: Spreader Fishing, a joint venture consortium, has donated Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment valued at N.dollars 150,000 to seven state schools in the Kunene, Omusati, and Ohangwena regions. Each school received a laptop, wireless mouse, a full HD LED projector, and a laptop bag.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Spreader Fishing chairperson Silas Iipumbu, speaking at the handover ceremony at Otjerunda Combined School in the Kunene Region on Thursday, stated that the donation aims to strengthen the technological infrastructure of schools while working to enhance learning. He emphasized that this effort is not only a corporate responsibility but also a moral obligation to transform communities, highlighting the role of education as the greatest equalizer.

The beneficiary schools include Otjerunda Combined School, Braunfels Agriculture Secondary School, and Musaso Combined School in the Kunene Region. Additionally, Oukwandongo Combined School and Oikokola Combined School in the Omusati Region, as well as Oshikunde Secondary School and Sakaria Shikudule Combined School in Ohangwena, were recipients of the donation.

Dino Ballotti, the Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts, and Culture, praised Spreader Fishing's investment in education despite their complex responsibilities. He described the move as commendable and part of a larger initiative aimed at achieving digital transformation in all schools, which is essential in bridging the digital divide.

Ballotti noted that Spreader Fishing has set a strong example as a private sector entity by partnering with the government to help transform education. He urged other private entities, non-governmental organizations, development partners, and those in the diaspora to join in and take the lead in the country's development efforts.
