Suspects Sought in Weekend Crimes Across Windhoek

Windhoek: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) is investigating a string of incidents involving housebreaking, theft, and drug possession reported in Windhoek over the weekend.

According to Namibia Press Agency, a major theft incident was reported at In and Go Storage Facility at Brakwater around 12h34 on Friday. The suspect allegedly broke a padlock and stole several items including a motorbike, bicycle and accessories, camping equipment, kitchen appliances, and computer equipment. The total value of the stolen goods is estimated at N.dollars 1.5 million. The report noted that no arrests or recoveries have been made.

The police also reported that a vehicle was broken into in Newcastle Street around 11h20 on Saturday and a bag containing N.dollars 15 350 in cash was stolen. No arrests have been made in connection with the matter yet.

The report further indicated that on Friday between 08h00 and 12h00, a suspect broke into a residence in Meas Street, Khomasdal, and stole an iPhone 11, an HP laptop, and hair accessories valued at N.dollars 13 300. No recovery or arrest has been made.

In a separate case of housebreaking on the same day in Windhoek North, suspects allegedly stole two laptops, a TV, a computer box, and jewellery with a total value estimated at N.dollars 176 000. Investigations are ongoing.

In another incident, the report stated that a 45-year-old employee at a company in the Northern Industrial Area was arrested after allegedly stealing copper wire worth N.dollars 20 000 from his workplace. The stolen copper was recovered and the investigation continues.

Meanwhile, in Khorixas, a 31-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man were arrested on Saturday after they were allegedly found in possession of cannabis valued at N.dollars 15 380 during a police search.

The Namibian Police Force has urged the public to come forward with any information that may assist in the ongoing investigations.
