Swakopmund: The opening round of the African Marketing Fistball League kicked off at the Swakopmund Fistball Club grounds on Saturday after a one-year break. Teams from across Namibia competed in the A and B leagues, alongside several youth categories.
According to Namibia Press Agency, in a statement issued to Nampa on Monday, the club noted that the A League saw Cohen Fistball Club (CFC) 1 make a strong start, finishing top of the standings with 12 points. Swakopmund Fistball Club (SFC) 1 followed with 10 points, while Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) 1 secured third place with eight points. CFC 2 and SKW 2 completed the standings with three and one point, respectively.
In the B League, SKW 3 dominated the opening round with 12 points, ahead of SFC 2 with nine points. CFC 3 finished third with six points, followed by SKW 4 with three points, while SFC 3 is yet to register a point.
Youth competitions were played alongside the senior matches. In the Under-12 (U12) category, SKW 1 finished first with nine points, followed by CFC 1 with six points, while SFC 2 and SFC 1 recorded one point each. In the Under-15 (U15) division, SKW secured first place with six points, while CFC and SFC both finished with one point. The Under-18 (U18) league also saw SKW 1 take an early lead with six points, followed by CFC 1 with three points, while SFC 1 is yet to open its account.
Individual player-of-the-day honours went to Malte Iben (U12), Marko von Flotow (U15) and Claudia Schlettwein in the senior league. The opening round at SFC marked an exciting start to the new season, with the African Marketing Fistball League expected to deliver competitive matches as the 2026 campaign progresses.
