Windhoek: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) reported three suspected suicides in the ||Kharas, Kavango East, and Kunene regions over the weekend.
According to Namibia Press Agency, a police report issued on Sunday detailed the discovery of 14-year-old Katjongere Porondo's body at Otjivatwa village in the Kunene Region. Porondo, who had gone to graze goats on Friday morning, was found hanging from a tree with a shoelace around his neck the following day. No suicide note was found, and his next of kin have been informed. The body was transported to Opuwo for certification and autopsy.
Additionally, the report mentioned that at approximately 08h35 on Friday in Utokota village in the Sambyu area, 19-year-old Muhoko Frankilde Kunyanda was found hanging from a tree in her yard by neighbors. An investigation showed no signs of foul play, and the body was taken to the Rundu State Mortuary for a postmortem.
The police also reported the death of 23-year-old Jolene Orr, whose body was discovered hanging at a house in Block 5 at Aussenkehr around 06h00 on Friday. It is suspected that Orr took her own life. A nurse confirmed her death, and her next of kin have been notified. The body was sent to the Noordoewer Police Mortuary for an autopsy.
