Helmand: At least six commuters were killed and another injured in a road accident in southern Afghanistan's Helmand province on Friday afternoon, a local official confirmed Saturday. Mullah Ezatullah Haqqani, spokesman for the provincial government, reported that a car collided head-on with another vehicle, resulting in the immediate death of six people, including a mother and her four children, in the Washir district along the highway connecting Herat to Kabul.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the official attributed the tragedy to reckless driving, with the injured passenger being transported to a nearby health center for medical attention.
In a separate incident on Friday morning, one commuter was killed, and six others were injured in a highway crash in eastern Afghanistan's Ghazni province. Fatal road accidents occur frequently in Afghanistan, attributed to poor road conditions, reckless driving, challenging terrains, overloading, and dangerous overtaking.
