A 20-year-old woman was allegedly raped at Okaandje village in the Oshana Region’s Ongwediva Constituency on Friday.

A crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) on Monday, 18 October 2021 said the suspect in the matter is a friend to her boyfriend.

The incident occurred at 23h00, while the victim was sleeping in her boyfriend’s room. He was at a cuca shop charging his phone at the time.

It is alleged that the friend of the victim’s boyfriend who was at the same cuca shop, left the victim’s boyfriend at the cuca shop and went to the room, where he undressed the victim in the dark and had sexual intercourse with her without consent.

“When the victim started suspecting that it was not her boyfriend, the suspect ran away and hid in the space where they bath, which is where the victim came to recognise him before he fled,” the report reads.

The suspect has not yet been arrested.

Meanwhile, a 46-year-old woman was allegedly raped at Oshipumbu Shomugongo village around 20h00 on Thursday.

It is alleged that the suspect, who is known to her, followed her from a cuca shop and repeatedly asked her why she does not want to go to his house with him. When she refused his advances, he hit the victim with a stick on her back, causing her to fall on the ground. The suspect then took out a knife and threatened to stab the victim if she screamed, before pushing her to the ground and having sexual intercourse with her without her consent.

The suspect has not yet been arrested.

The police also reported a case of vehicle theft registered at Ongwediva on Sunday between midnight and 05h00 after a beige Toyota Corolla was allegedly stolen from Ketu Nakaye.

According to the report, the vehicle is a 1995 model with registration number N25787SH.

Police investigations in all matters continue.
