New York: The Trump administration has decided to put the idea of imposing new sanctions against Russia "on the shelf," according to Russian Deputy Ambassador to the UN Dmitry Polyanskiy. In an interview with Ria Novosti, Polyanskiy mentioned the difficulty in finding new areas to sanction as a key reason for the decision.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Polyanskiy noted that the European countries are actively seeking new reasons to impose sanctions despite the US's current stance. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump recently signed an executive order on April 2 that introduced reciprocal tariffs on imports from various countries, with a base rate of 10%. Higher rates were applied to 57 nations, based on the US trade deficit with each specific country.

On April 9, Trump announced a baseline tariff of 10% for 90 days on over 75 countries that had not retaliated and had requested negotiations. Notably, Russia and Belarus were excluded from this list, unlike China, which faced the tariffs.
