US Technical Team to Meet Ukrainian Officials in Riyadh Before Engaging With Russia

Riyadh: A US technical team plans to meet with Ukrainian officials in Riyadh on March 23, a day before the scheduled meeting with Russian officials, CBS News reporter Jennifer Jacobs said, citing sources. In Russia-Ukraine ceasefire talks, the US technical team intends to meet with Ukrainian representatives on Sunday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, ahead of discussions on Monday with the Russians, Jacobs wrote on X.



According to Namibia Press Agency, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz are not going to Saudi Arabia for this set of talks. Should progress be made in Riyadh with the Russian team, the US technical team could meet again with the Ukrainian team later on March 24, Jacobs noted.



An expert meeting between Russia and the United States, as previously reported by Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov, is scheduled to take place on March 24 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Russian side will be represented by the head of the international committee of the Federation Council, Grigory Karasin, and Sergey Beseda, an advisor to the Federal Security Service (FSB) director. The talks are expected to focus on the Black Sea Initiative.
