Windhoek: Wanderers Women's Rugby Club produced a display to beat Montego United 24-19 and book their place in the final of the Women's 15s Rugby League at Hage Geingob Stadium in Olympia on Saturday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, with UNAM already assured of a place in the final after topping the Women's 15s Rugby League, it was left to rivals Wanderers and Montego United to battle for the remaining spot in the title decider on 10 October 2026.

Wanderers dominated the opening half, scoring three tries and converting two to take a 19-0 lead into the break. However, Montego United returned from half-time with determination and took control of the second half. They scored three tries and only missed one conversion to level the match at 19-19 with minutes remaining.

Just when the match appeared to be heading towards a tense finish, Wanderers regrouped and crossed the white line once again to secure a 24-19 victory and their place in the final. Wanderers' tries came from right-winger Anchal Harases, left-wing Lizzle Tauxas, lock Xandre Januarie and lock/loose Gabriella Jahs, while fullback Joana van Staden converted two of the four tries.

For Montego United, Roberta Fabio scored two tries, with Mbitjita Matuzee adding the third. Tiffany Lawrance converted two of their tries. Speaking to the media after the match, Wanderers vice-captain Rhevonne de Klerk said the team was delighted to reach the final after an intense encounter.

United came out today and gave it their all. At some stage of the game, we were nervous about them winning the game as they kept on attacking, but we kept our composure and managed to run in a last try, she said. De Klerk added that Wanderers were looking forward to facing UNAM in the final but acknowledged that the match would be another challenge.

We are happy to face UNAM in the final, but we know it's not going to be easy. We are going to give it our all to challenge for the league title, she said.
