Windhoek: Exhibitors at the Windhoek Agricultural and Livestock Show were on Friday awarded certificates in various categories, including restaurants, outdoor and indoor exhibitions, as well as trophies for the best overall indoor and outdoor exhibitors.
According to Namibia Press Agency, after winning bronze in the restaurants category, Wai's Kitchen's owner, Lilian Makiwa, who has been exhibiting at the annual event since 1994, expressed joy in receiving her fifth award from the show. "I'm so happy. The Windhoek Show, which awarded me the best food stall for all those years . we are so happy that we have been given the Food Stall award," she shared with Nampa. Makiwa underscored that as long as she is alive, she will keep coming back to the exhibitions and called on the youth to involve themselves in skills in whatever they want.
Displaying happiness, Marketing Specialist at Barloworld Namibia, the best overall outdoor exhibitor, Roechaan Frye, indicated that the award represents the hard work her team put into this year's exhibition. "We definitely want to keep the trophy, and we also hope that we inspire some of the other outdoor stalls and even the indoor stalls to work towards being bigger and better next year," she said, before commending the show's sponsors, organisers and other participants, and urging the public to attend next year's event.
Head of Customer Value Management and Customer Experience at Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC), Vic Tuneeko, also expressed excitement after winning the best overall indoor category trophy, noting the MTC team worked tirelessly for the prize, which was one of their aims. "As much as we are excited, it's something that we were aiming for. We came here for that purpose," he stressed, pointing out that the company came not only for sales. Tuneeko concluded by highlighting some of the differences MTC made at this year's edition, which included increasing space for rest areas, the number of counters and entertainment for parents and kids.
