Nimroz:Afghan security forces have apprehended six alleged human traffickers and rescued over 100 victims in the western province of Nimroz, according to provincial police spokesman Mawlawi Gul Mohammad Qudrat.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the traffickers were attempting to smuggle 113 individuals out of Afghanistan through illegal routes. Security personnel identified and stopped the operation recently.

All six suspects are now under arrest for investigation, and the victims have been rescued. Qudrat issued a warning about severe penalties for engaging in human trafficking.

In addition to the arrests, security forces confiscated four vehicles and three motorbikes from the traffickers. The region has witnessed fatalities, with at least 26 people dying while trying to enter Iran illegally for work, including 19 in Nimroz province due to thirst and hunger over the past two months.
