The Agricultural Bank of Namibia (Agribank) on Friday launched its virtual training methods to train and inform communal and commercial farmers on effective farming.

Launching the 35 pre-recorded video clips at Otjiwarongo, Otjozondjupa Regional Council Chairperson Marlayn Mbakera said the clips are all loaded on the bank’s website and on its social media platforms and focus on poultry production, livestock farming, rangeland management, crop and horticulture farming.

“Agribank wants to see an enhanced farming productivity system, therefore, the public should embrace these audiovisual materials for their own farming benefits,” said Mbakera.

She further stated that since farming offers endless opportunities, the public should continue equipping themselves with the improved methods of farming in order to succeed even at times when climate conditions are harsh.

Executive for Marketing and Customer Strategy at Agribank, Regan Mwazi at the event also said the video clips are on improved farming methodologies and were produced by the bank’s agri-advisory services in conjunction with the GIZ resilience farming crew.

The clips are short, detailed, precise and sweet as their purpose is to attract and entice farmers to watch them over and over, he said.

Mwazi noted that the clips are targeting potential farmers who would need training on specific farming topics or inform themselves at anytime and anywhere they are.

“We used to hold face to face training sessions before the outbreak of Covid-19, but with the current situation, virtual training is the future for Agribank to also remain relevant to its stakeholders,” said Mwazi.

Two clips on successful poultry farming running for approximately three and five minutes were screened at the event.
