Windhoek: The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology's (MICT) Acting Executive Director, Linda Aipinge-Nakale, has called on the ministry's media and information officers, as well as engineering technicians, to work diligently and deliver on the expectations of the nation. She made the call on Tuesday during a refresher training workshop for MICT regional staff, held in Windhoek.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the three-day workshop, which also saw the participation of Namibia Press Agency (Nampa) Acting Chief Executive Officer, Jata Kazondu, brought together MICT staff from across the country. It aims to enhance the rollout, daily operations, and visibility of the Government Information Centres (GICs) across all 14 regions. 'Please work hard and deliver, Namibians expect more from all of us,' Aipinge-Nakale urged, emphasizing that effective communication remains central to accountable governance.
She reminded participants that the public depends on government communicators for credible, timely, and factual information, especially in an era where misinformation spreads rapidly. 'This will enhance visibility for your region and ensure that communities are informed about programmes being implemented in your areas,' she said.
Aipinge-Nakale further encouraged the information officers, media officers, and engineering technicians to invest effort in mastering the skills provided during the workshop. She noted that the training will help participants understand how various developments interconnect, strengthen their ability to manage and operate regional GICs, and build technical capacity to handle broadcasting equipment effectively.
By the end of the workshop, Aipinge-Nakale said, each region is expected to have an established GIC schedule, ensuring that every studio conducts at least one information session per week. She concluded by stressing the importance of teamwork, professionalism, and ethical reporting, noting that government communication must always reflect integrity, service, and national pride.
