London: World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz booked his semifinal berth at the ATP 500 Queen's Club Championships by beating lucky loser Arthur Rinderknech 7-5, 6-4 here on Friday. Alcaraz, 22, who arrived in London with titles from Rome Masters and French Open, has extended the longest winning streak of his career to 16 matches.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the Spaniard expressed his satisfaction with his performance as he prepares for his Wimbledon title defense. "I'm feeling great," Alcaraz said, referencing his adaptation to the grass surface after retaining his clay-court Grand Slam title earlier this month. He acknowledged areas for improvement on grass but emphasized his current happiness with his progress.
In the upcoming semifinal, Alcaraz will face fellow Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut, who surprised Danish fourth seed Holger Rune with a 7-6(7), 6-7(7), 6-2 victory. The match promises to be a thrilling encounter between Spain's young talent and the experienced 37-year-old veteran.
Meanwhile, Jack Draper of Britain also secured a spot in the semifinals by overcoming American Brandon Nakashima 6-4, 7-5, 6-4. Draper took the first set with an early break but faced resistance from Nakashima in the second set. However, Draper elevated his game in the deciding set, particularly with his first serves, setting up a semifinal clash with Jiri Lehecka from the Czech Republic.
