Okahandja:The 18-year-old suspect, Karinambande Muundjua, has confessed to the police about the rape and murder of two young girls in Okahandja, Namibia. He admitted to killing five-year-old Ingrid Maasdorp on 21 March 2025 and six-year-old Roswinds Fabianu on 24 April 2025. Muundjua, previously a senior at KW von Marees Combined School, was suspended months before the alleged crimes.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Muundjua had a pending criminal case for cutting CCTV camera cables at the school, to which he admitted guilt. Despite this, his family was shocked by the allegations, describing him as a loving brother influenced by others. His sister mentioned that he appeared restless and stressed during a recent visit.
Muundjua was apprehended last Saturday after an alleged attempt to rape another 10-year-old girl, leading to his arrest. Forensic evidence, including DNA, was crucial in linking him to the crimes, according to Acting Inspector General of the Namibian Police, Major General Anne-Marie Nainda.
In court, Muundjua apologized for his actions but was denied bail. Meanwhile, the family of Ingrid Maasdorp has filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Education for negligence regarding her safety. The case has been postponed to 02 March 2027 for further investigations.
