Angolan man allegedly commits suicide at Opuwo

An Angolan man, identified as Upame Kaimba, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at a kapana stand in Opuwo on Friday.

According to a weekend crime report issued by Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, Kaimba’s body was discovered by a passerby. No suicide note was left behind and no foul play is suspected. The body was taken tobthe Opuwo Police Mortuary and his next of kin were informed of his death.

Elsewhere, the body of an unknown man was allegedly found hanging from a tree with a wire around his neck at Ondado village in the Oniipa area of the Oshikoto Region on Friday.

Shikwambi said at this stage, the deceased has not yet been identified and thus his next of kin are yet to be informed of his death.

In another incident, it is alleged that a 23-year-old female identified as Bewisee Virimuna Tjonga, hanged herself in Windhoek. No suicide note was left behind and no foul play is suspected.

The report further mentioned that a 25-year-old Namibian male was arrested at Kamanjab after being found in possession of 80 parcels of pure cannabis during a police search. The weight and value of the cannabis has not yet been determined, the report adds.

In a similar incident, a 29-year-old Namibian male was also arrested in Kamanjab after being found in possession of six parcels of pure cannabis in his room when the police searched his house. The weight and value of the drugs have not yet been determined.

Shikwambi also reported that a 40-year-old Namibian male was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly raped a seven-year-old girl at farm Okatjapia in the Ovitoto district of the Otjozondjupa Region. The incident allegedly occurred around 18h00 on Saturday, after the suspect lured the victim to his room with sweets.

Police investigations in all matters continue.
