Swakopmund:The media has been urged to intensify investigative journalism and collaborate closely with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to expose corruption, promote accountability, and ensure that public resources benefit Namibians.

According to Namibia Press Agency, ACC Director General Bryan Eiseb, speaking during the commission's annual media engagement in Swakopmund, highlighted the essential role of journalists as partners in the fight against corruption. He emphasized the need for a collective approach that involves public institutions, the private sector, and communities.

Eiseb pointed out that investigative journalism can uncover financial and political wrongdoing, expose illicit financial flows, and bring unethical conduct to public attention. He warned that corruption undermines national development by diverting resources from essential public investments and eroding public confidence in government.

He stressed the critical responsibility of the media to scrutinize public resource management, investigate misconduct allegations, and ensure that matters affecting public interest receive adequate attention. Credible media investigations could lead to formal inquiries and accountability measures by relevant authorities.

Erongo Governor Natalia /Goagoses welcomed Eiseb and reiterated the region's support for the ACC, stating that the engagement strengthens collaboration between the commission and journalists. She underscored the media's role in demanding transparency and accountability, particularly where corruption threatens equitable access to basic services.
