Okahandja:The Namibian Police have announced the arrest of suspects linked to the murders of three schoolgirls in Okahandja. The victims include five-year-old Ingrid Maasdorp, her schoolmate Roswinds Fabianu, and 15-year-old Beyoncé !Kharuxas, who were brutally murdered on separate occasions last year.
According to Namibia Press Agency, a statement from NamPol spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, indicated that a comprehensive press briefing is scheduled for Thursday to provide further details on the arrests and ongoing investigations.
These arrests represent a significant development in the case, which had previously sparked widespread public outrage and demands for justice, leading to the enforcement of a curfew in the area.
In a related development, DNA analysis has confirmed the identity of a dismembered body discovered in the Daan Viljoen area last week. However, the police have not revealed if this case is connected to the Okahandja murders.
Major General Anne-Marie Nainda, Acting Inspector General of the Namibian Police Force, is expected to issue more information during the upcoming press conference. The briefing will also address other ongoing investigations and recent police achievements.
The police statement did not reveal the identities of the arrested suspects, the charges they face, or additional details regarding the evidence collected during the investigations.
