Windhoek: Bank Windhoek on Friday hosted its Coffee Extravaganza launch event in Windhoek, where it expressed commitment to strengthening Namibia's small and medium enterprise (SME) sector and advancing digital banking solutions.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Bank Windhoek Managing Director James Chapman said the gathering was not only a product showcase but also a celebration of entrepreneurship and the role of SMEs in driving economic growth. "Behind every successful business is an entrepreneur who had the courage to start, the resilience to persevere, and the ambition to grow," Chapman said.
He added that SMEs remain the backbone of Namibia's economy, contributing significantly to employment creation, innovation, and economic diversification. "At Bank Windhoek, we believe that banking is about far more than products and transactions. It is about enabling progress, helping our customers realise their ambitions, and equipping them to succeed in an increasingly digital and connected world," Chapman said.
He noted that the rapidly evolving digital economy presents new opportunities for businesses to expand beyond borders and reach customers locally and internationally. "A customer in Windhoek can sell to customers in Walvis Bay, Cape Town, London or New York with the click of a button," he said, highlighting the growing importance of digital platforms.
As part of its strategic direction, Bank Windhoek reiterated its ambition to become Namibia's leading payment bank, focusing on simplifying transactions, enhancing customer experience, and enabling secure digital commerce. During the event, the bank also launched its enhanced SME Value Proposition, designed to support businesses through tailored financial solutions, business support services, and digital tools.
"Today marks another important milestone in that journey. We are proud to launch our enhanced SME Value Proposition. This offering has been designed with one objective in mind: helping businesses start, grow and thrive," Chapman said. Bank Windhoek further highlighted its partnership with global payment provider VISA, describing it as key to enabling secure and seamless transactions.
"When our customers grow, our communities prosper. When our businesses succeed, our economy becomes stronger. And when Namibia thrives, we all win." The event concluded with a call for entrepreneurs and stakeholders to engage with the bank's offerings and explore new opportunities within the digital economy.
