Senior national men’s football team coach, Collin Benjamin said he is happy with the team spirit, dedication and hunger currently being shown by the players while in South Africa.

The Brave Warriors are in Pretoria, South Africa preparing for the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Cup that is underway in Durban, South Africa. Namibia is expected to play in the tournament from the semi-finals stage.

In an interview with Nampa on Wednesday, Benjamin said they played a friendly match earlier this week against the University of Pretoria (TUKS) – a match they won, however he downplayed the results as his focus is on seeing that what they are drilling into the players is working well.

“I am impressed by the commitment and hunger shown by the players in the team as they are all committed. I hope they will take this attitude to the game on Tuesday when we play Madagascar in the quarterfinals of the competition,” he said.

The coach also added that Uetuuro Kambato joined the team from Mozambique where he plies his football trade, noting that he is impressed with the player’s character which shows that he has grown as a footballer.

“We are going to play our last preparation game on Friday against Sekhukhune United and after this game, we will take things easy as we prepare for Madagascar, but the Friday game should give us an indication of where we want to be,” said Benjamin.

The coach also stated that credit should be given to the leadership back home as all their needs are catered for while away from home, and it is now up to them to prepare for the Madagascar game.
